Clio set her bags down in the hotel room on the outskirts of town, closing the door behind her and instinctively locked the door. It was late, but she had paid for an extra day ahead of time and had told the hotel that she was delayed. So, they had held the room and she had no problems getting in after her late flight into town.
She hadn't brought a lot with her, a few bags of clothes and a hardshell case with a few books and other mementos. Everything else she would have shipped if she was accepted by the Prince and found a Haven. Why had she really decided to come here? It was not especially exciting as cities went and it was reportedly surrounded by Lupines, but it was solidly Camarilla. That was a strong point in its favor.
She put a few things away, to make it looked lived in and turned the air conditioner down all the way. Of course she would be cold either way, but now she would have an excuse for a surprise visitor who might drop by. Noone would, but no sense in not being prepared.
All that being done, she stepped back into the main room and a reflection caught her eye. It was only her own image in the glass, but the tilt of her own head brought back a strong memory.
Her sire had wanted her to be able to move through different circles... being an Idealist he spent time trying to get the Iconoclastic masses of Brujah organized and moving in one direction, at least for a little while. He had to be equally ready to meet with Princes and Primogen, and so his Childe must as well.
"Recite the Traditions" he said with a snarl in her memory. She complied, her hands clasped before her.
"The First - Thou shalt not reveal thy true nature to those not of the Blood. Doing so shall renounce thy claims of Blood.
The Second - Thy Domain is thy concern. All others owe thee respect while in it. None may challenge thy word in thy Domain.
The Third - Thou shalt sire another only with permission of thine Elder. If thou createst another without thine Elder's leave, both thou and thy progeny shalt be slain.
The Fourth - Those thou create are thine own childer. Until thy progeny shall be released, thou shalt command them in all things. Their sins are thine to endure.
The Fifth - Honor one another's Domain. When thou comest to a foreign city, thou shalt present thyself to the one who ruleth there. Without the word of acceptance, thou art Nothing.
The SIxth - Thou art forbidden to destroy another of thy kind. The right of Destruction belongeth only to thine Elder. Only the Eldest among thee shall call the Blood Hunt."
He nodded as she finished. "Good." He allowed himself a bt of a smile, then frowned again suddenly.
"What is the hunt of another of our Kindred called, sanctioned by the holder of the right of Domain?" he asked.
"Lextalionis, sire. The Blood Hunt."
"Good. Good. You may yet survive a few nights out from under my wing." he half-teased her, though he knew she remembered everything said to her, almost frighteningly so.
Clio came out of her reverie and focused on herself now. She hadn't changed in all those years. It was still the same face looking back at her. It was odd seeing the world change around her but the person in the mirror staying the same. That was part of why she haunted libraries... books stay the same until they are dust, and so would she be.

It was a few hours after dark the next evening when Clio went out again, this time to look for Elysium. She knew it was in the northern part of the city, near a place called "the Picasso Palace". So, that was the first place she went looking for, having a cab called for her. From there she wandered around, sticking to the streetlights so noone would accost her. That would be another time. Better to have her obligation done with.
She made her way into the Hall, examining the architecture as she went. Someone would find her sooner or later and she would present herself as required.
